things i love

October 29th, 2005

*my new purple ugg slippers (thanks babe)

*looking forward to vacations (almost as much as the actual vacation)

*the fact that my husband is now a tofu-lovin’ health nut

*my marriage and how it gets better every day

*the tv show "starting over"–captivates me every season, sometimes for the snark factor, but usually i’m bawling my eyes out, i admit it

*a glass of wine and a bath with the newest issue of travel & leisure or rolling stone

* how my dog jumps into bed with us early each morning and snuggles up between us

*oddtodd.com–seriously, for years now

stuff and stuff

October 27th, 2005

i was going through old pictures today, so i added a bunch to my profile.  some of them are pretty funny.

had rehearsal for this play reading i’m doing monday…script good, cast good, should be good!  there are supposedly over 50 producers attending, so…should be good.

surgery tuesday…owie…

penfold’s "rawson’s retreat" cabernet/shiraz is an excellent wine and you should all drink it.

miers withdrew her nomination…sigh…can’t this administration get ANYTHING right?  like, EVER?  that’s right, george…keep those unqualified bigots comin’!

we bought an elliptical machine for the apartment because i refuse to go to fort lauderdale this new year’s not in good shape.  i’m happy with where i’m at, but the winter makes people fat, so…yeah.  elliptical.  and two new yoga dvd’s that are kicking my ass lately.

tired…apprentice on tivo calls…then bed.

recent partying…and end of summer rundown

October 15th, 2005

what a beautiful day!  finally!  i didn’t spend nearly as much time as i wanted to outside, though, due to the need to sleep in, due to a very late, but fun, night.  mark’s cousin, kevin, was in town last night with his girlfriend, lindsey, and they came to dinner at my restaurant with another couple.  when they left, they met up with mark at a pub near our place, and i headed over there after i got off.  turns out, mark had called our friends rob and jo-ann, who brought along their friends, adam and john.  we ended up having an impromptu soiree at our pad after the bar shut down, and then going to adam and john’s for some mo’ fun.  then mark and i came home and ate a pizza at 4 am.  i think it’s clear what we were up to at adam’s.  derelicts, i tell you.  it was great meeting some new friends, and catching up with jo-ann, who i don’t get to gab with often enough.

soon after getting up today, i took mark to the airport.  off to denver again for a week on business.  i like my alone time, but i miss him so much when he goes.  he calls a lot, though, which is nice.  i love you, baby.  hurry back.

bought a cute new purse (dark seafoam blue suede) and some buttery yellow leather driving mocs today.  the fall wardrobe…is complete!  until next month.  ;)

tomorrow i’m off to teaneck bright and early to drop off walter, and then to do that play reading in cranford.  should be fun for us both…now that my dad fenced in the backyard, walter can go as mental as he wants to, all day long.

oh!  mark’s birthday was a lot of fun.  we had dinner at this adorable little italian byob.  very quirky, VERY good food.  best gnocchi EVER.  the concert was fun, especially because we dragged almost all of our neighbors in our building along with us at the last minute and had a little capital flats shindig!  (shout out to my cool-ass neighbors!  you rock!)  they were all able to buy scalper tickets outside, which was a relief.  the concert was full of screaming teenyboppers, but still fun (mraz just needs to take off that damn trucker hat).  after the show, we tried to go to this weird little dive bar across the street from our building, but it was closed.  so we went to another place around the corner, where we met–get this–the shady dive bar’s bartender, who took us back there and opened it up for us!  too weird, too funny.  there were beers, pool, and late night geno’s steaks.  a great birthday night for my baby.

Nopantsdaydid you know that the first friday of every may is "no pants day"? i did.

things i loved about this summer: bike rides with mark along the schuykill trail and through the city, dibruno bros’ iced coffee and metropolitan bakery’s millet muffins for breakfast in the park, getting dirty at the dog run, cape may, watching walter explore and enjoy the beach, aspen, reading by the pool in denver (in the cutest roxy bathing suit), margaritas at el vez, the jedi crew on  "big brother", and much, much more…bubye, summer.  see you next year.

i can’t stand the rain

October 12th, 2005

another wet day.  i’d love to ride my bike or take walter to the dog run, but noooooooooo.  i did buy a new yoga dvd last night, so i’ll probably pop that in, once my breakfast has digested.  it’s mark’s birthday, so i whipped up some pumpkin waffles with vanilla butter and pure maple syrup this morning.  yummers.  i bit that tasty dish off of my restaurant’s brunch menu.

so along with the dvd, i also got a rolling, 3-compartment laundry sorter at target last night.  god i love target.

tonight we’re going to dinner and the jason mraz show at electric factory.  i hope my back pain goes away before then…as i was falling asleep last night, one side of my upper back started to hurt. still does.  i feel like a broken woman lately.

i read this on craigslist’s "best of" earlier…i mean, it states the obvious, but i thought is was funny and well written:

chimps, models, and cocktails…and stuff

October 7th, 2005

i was in nyc from tuesday night till thursday morning working on a tvland commercial.  christian finnegan (from "best week ever") and a chimpanzee were among the cast, along with a "little house on the prairie" tribute band.  i shit you not.

yesterday was a good day.  i started out by sleeping in, then watching part of an "america’s next top model" marathon on vh1.  i had never seen that show before.  it is fantastically ridiculous.  tyra has gone of the deep!  it’s great!  then i grabbed some eats at ronnie’s bagels in oradell (which was totally out of the way, but i can’t resist it if i’m within a 50 mile radius) and headed back to philly.  went to work at 6 and worked the lounge, where some drunk penn losers insisted on buying me a drink, which i chugged in the sidestation.  classy, i know, but deeee-lish.  and lots of free food at work last night, too.  i am obsessed with tuna tartare and wasabi mashed potatoes.  overall, a very good day.

i’ve been feeling frustrated and anxious lately because i haven’t been auditioning much lately.  i know i need to wait for my voice to heal after my surgery, and then meet with a voice coach to go over my new audition material.  it’s just the waiting that’s killing me.  i do have a couple of readings coming up, though.  a director in jersey who had seen me at the nj theatre alliance audition contacted me for a reading next week.  a good opportunity to meet and be seen by new people, as i have never worked with her or this company before.  also, my good friend/awesome playwright-director john wooten asked me to do a second reading of his play at hbo studios on halloween.  yay!  i sorta feel like an actor again.
