music…makes the people…laugh at kelley

June 9th, 2006

i’m downloading the new gnarls barkley album off of itunes right now, and from the stuff i’ve heard so far, it’s amazing.  i downloaded their song,"crazy", last week for my puerto rico mix, which also consisted of a bunch of stuff i will be ridiculed for.  but i don’t care.  here’s the mix.  i highly recommend it for you listening pleasure:

  1. walk away–kelly clarkson
  2. you’re beautiful–james blunt
  3. moody’s mood for love–elliot yamin
  4. jesus, take the wheel–carrie underwood
  5. crazy–gnarls barkley
  6. promiscuous–nelly furtado/timbaland
  7. before your love–kelly clarkson
  8. when i fall in love–kevin covais
  9. what hurts the most–rascal flatts
  10. don’t forget to remember me–carrie underwood
  11. midnight train to georgia–paris bennett
  12. what about love–melissa mcghee
  13. takin it to the streets–taylor hicks
  14. think–katharine mcphee
  15. home–michael buble

ok, so what i did was get the american idol tracks i liked this year (no ace or lisa tucker for me, thanks), and then went to the top 100 songs and got me some pop and country music! yee haw!  "promiscuous" is kinda lame (i much prefer old nelly furtado), and i don’t love melissa’s studio version of "what about love, although it’d a great song (heart RULES).  but the rest, i love.  i like fucking carrie underpants and rascal flatts, ok?

i also got kt tunstall’s album recently–incredible, and i finally got the jackie brown soundtrack again!  i had the cd years ago, and lost it at some point.  it’s quite possibly the best movie soundtrack ever.  check it out:

  1. across 110th street–bobby womack
  2. beaumont’s lament (dialogue)–sam jackson & robert deniro
  3. strawberry letter 23–brothers johnson
  4. melanie, simone, and sheronda (dialogue)–sam jackson & robert deniro
  5. who is he (and what is he to you?)–bill withers
  6. tennessee stud (live)–johnny cash
  7. natural high–bloodstone
  8. longtime woman–pam grier
  9. detroit 9000–council cargle
  10. holy matrimony (letter to the firm)–foxy brown
  11. street life–randy crawford
  12. didn’t i blow your mind this time–the delfonics
  13. midnight confessions–the grass roots
  14. inside my love–minnie ripperton
  15. just ask melanie (dialogue)–sam jackson, robert deniro, bridget fonda
  16. the lions and the cucumber–the vampire sound incorporation
  17. monte carlo nights–elliot easton’s tiki gods

i’ve got to go clean now.  the place is messy.  i don’t do messy.

Wow, it would just be WAY too easy to make fun of each and every song you posted. So I will just say that you and Eric the Midget (from Howard Stern and the TV series American Dreams) have similar tastes in music. Rascal Flatts. Nuff said.

i like good country music, and i’m not ashamed to admit it. rascal flatts, dixie chicks, old school garth, and if you wanna kick it REAL old school, shit like george strait. you like johnny cash, right? is that not countrified? i also love blugrass, like alison krauss and union station. i don’t, however, listen to drivel like toby keith or that sort of nonsense. not all country is alike, you know. so i don’t care if i seem uncool or whatever. what else does eric the midget listen to? perhaps we could trade playlists!

Eric the Midgetonly likes Rascal Flatts, and any chick from American Idol, at least to my knowledge. Also, Johnny Cash is not countrified. Johnny Cash is the original man in black. Therefore, Johnny Cash is goth. Do some research before you make such ridiculous statements.
